Hello everyone, I'm here to tell you about a fairly new deck to competitive play. Its a rising force in todays meta. This archtype is known to people as Nekroz, or Necloth your choice on the name. This archetype is very powerful focusing on ritual summonings and locking the opponent out of their extra deck. I've used this deck for quite a while now so I know a lot about it, but not everything yet. So let's get to it with the monster off this deck shall we? |
Archmage of the Nekroz - Effect:
If this card is Tributed by a card effect: You can add 1 Spellcaster-Type "Nekroz" Ritual Monster from your Deck to your hand. If this card is banished: You can send 1 "Nekroz" monster from your deck to the Graveyard, except "Archmage of the Nekroz". You can only use 1 "Archmage of the Necloth" effect per turn, and only once that turn
This monster has a nice effect, being able to grab a spellcaster Nekroz ritual monster from your deck is very nice, but his banished effect probably wont happen much since you wont reallly need to banish him. Dance Princess of the Nekroz - Effect:
Your opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to the activation of a "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. "Nekroz" Ritual Monsters you control cannot be targeted by an opponent's card effects. If this card is Tributed by a card effect: You can target 1 of your banished "Nekroz" monsters, except "Dance Princess of the Nekroz"; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Dance Princess of the Nekroz" once per turn.
This card is just good all around. While it is on the field you can use your ritual spell cards without worry of negation and your monsters cant be targeted by your opponents card effects, plus if it is tributed by any card effect it nets you a banished nekroz card. Very nice all around. With the errata ring of destruction, people are going to be using it to attempt to take out your rituals, have this on the field to take less damage, but keep your nekroz on field longer. Exa, Warrior of the Nekroz - Effect:
If this card is Tributed by a card effect: You can add 1 Dragon-Type "Nekroz" Ritual Monster from your Deck to your hand. If this card is banished: You can target 1 of your banished "Nekroz" monsters, except this card; Special Summon it. You can only use 1 "Exa, Warrior of the Nekroz" effect per turn, and only once that turn.
This card has potential to be good, but so far I havent found any use for it. It's a dead draw early in the game, plus again, the banished effect will not go off often to use that eff. Schritt, Caster of the Nekroz - Effect:
If you Ritual Summon exactly 1 "Nekroz" Ritual Monster, this card can be used as the entire Tribute. If this card is Tributed by a card effect: You can add 1 Warrior-Type "Nekroz" Ritual Monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Shrit, Caster of the Nekroz" once per turn.
This card is your main tribute fodder, plus you get to add another warrior ritual monster to you hand. It's just too good not to run Well now that we covered the regular monsters now we move on to the rituals. Nekroz of Clausolas - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can only use each of these effects of "Nekroz of Clausolas" once per turn. ● You can discard this card; add 1 "Nekroz" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to your hand. ● During either player's turn: You can target 1 monster on the field that was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck; its ATK becomes 0, also its effects are negated. These changes last until the end of this turn.
Me personally i dont use him for his second effect, but his first one is amazing, being able to search out any nekroz spell or trap card is just great. Nekroz of Unicore - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can discard this card, then target 1 "Nekroz" card in your Graveyard, except "Nekroz of Unicore"; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Nekroz of Unicore" once per turn. Negate the effects of all face-up monsters on the field that were Special Summoned from the Extra Deck.
What i love about this deck is that they made new versions of cards that were so annoying to face and said screw the extra deck. This card negates any and all cards that come out of the extra deck, plus if you dont need this card, you can discard it and recycle another nekroz card in your grave Nekroz of Catastor - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned by using monsters other than "Nekroz of Catastor", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can discard this card, then target 1 "Nekroz" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target. You can only use this effect of "Nekroz of Catastor" once per turn. At the start of the Damage Step, if a "Nekroz" monster you control battles a monster that was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck: Destroy that monster.
Again another card that has potential. If it wasnt or the fact that the ritual cards can only be summoned by ritual summon this card would be golden, and the other eff is nice to, but you already screw the extra deck over so much already Nekroz of Brionac - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned, without using "Nekroz of Brionac", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can only use each of these effects of "Nekroz of Brionac" once per turn. ● You can discard this card; add 1 "Nekroz" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Nekroz of Brionac". ● You can target up to 2 monsters on the field that were Special Summoned from the Extra Deck; shuffle them into the deck.
Brionac has 2 really good abilities built in. The first being yet another searcher adding any nekroz monster from your deck to your hand, but can also bounce back any monster that was special summoned from the extra deck. Both of these effects are extremely good for helping you get advantage on the field and setting your opponent behind even more. Even though it was limited, the combos that this card can start are still easy to get to, plus this card is recyclable and easy to search. Nekroz of Gungnir - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned, without using any Level 7 monsters, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can only use each of these effects of "Nekroz of Gungnir" once per turn. ● During either player's turn: You can discard this card, then target 1 "Nekroz" monster you control; it cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects this turn. ● During either player's turn: You can discard 1 "Nekroz" card, then target 1 card on the field; destroy it.
Gungnir, He protects other nekroz monsters for one entire tun, and he pops any card on the field on either players turn for the cost of one nekroz card. Nekroz of Valkyrus - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned, without using any Level 8 monsters, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can only use each of these effects of "Nekroz of Valkyrus" once per turn. ● When an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can banish 1 "Nekroz" card from your Graveyard, then discard this card; negate that attack, then end the Battle Phase. ● During your Main Phase: You can Tribute up to 2 monsters from your hand and/or your side of the field, and if you do, draw 1 card for each card Tributed.
Another good card. This card saves lives. Being able to end the battle phase by banishing a nekroz card in your grave and sending this to the grave is very helpful, plus when you use this effect, you get a card that you can banish to add another mirror to your hand. Nekroz of Decisive Armor - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned, without using any Level 10 monsters, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can only use each of these effects of "Nekroz of Decisive Armor" once per turn. ● During either player's turn: You can discard this card, then target 1 "Nekroz" monster you control; it gains 1000 ATK and DEF until the end of this turn. ● You can target 1 Set card your opponent controls; destroy it, and if you do, banish it.
Well would you look at that. A 3300 beater that pops and banishes a set card (take that limited moralltach). This card really helps vs the qliphort matchup when they have towers out, and its banishing effect is really nice vs backrow heavy decks like Burning Abyss. Nekroz of Trishula - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned, without using any Level 9 monsters, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. You can only use each of these effects of "Nekroz of Trishula" once per turn. ● During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets a "Nekroz" monster(s) you control: You can discard this card; negate the activation. ● When this card is Ritual Summoned: You can banish 1 card from your opponent's side of the field, hand (at random) and Graveyard.
This is trishula. trishula is you best friend. he banishes, does not target and negates any card targeting nekroz monsters
Nekroz of Sophia - Effect:
You can Ritual Summon this card with any "Nekroz" Ritual Spell Card. Must be Ritual Summoned from your hand by using 3 monsters you control with different Types, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. During either player's Main Phase 1: You can discard both this card and 1 "Nekroz" Spell Card; during this phase, your opponent cannot Special Summon from the Extra Deck. When this card is Ritual Summoned: You can banish all other cards on the field and in the Graveyards. You cannot Normal/Set or Special Summon other monsters the turn you activate this effect.
it's a shame the summoning condition for this card is so dang high, you need 3 monster with different types, which means no schritt sacrifice only. The effect is really nice though, banishing every other card on the field and in the grave which basically is an auto 3600 direct attack, and its other effect,, locking your opponent out of their extra deck for an entire turn really hurts certain decks like burning abyss. but i dont think it's worth running Now for the ritual cards Nekroz Cycle - Effect:
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Nekroz" Ritual Monster. Tribute monsters from your hand or field, then Ritual Summon 1 "Nekroz" Ritual Monster from your hand or Graveyard whose Level exactly equals the total Levels of those monsters. You can only use this effect of "Nekroz Cycle" once per turn. If you control no monsters: You can banish this card and 1 "Nekroz" monster from your Graveyard; add 1 "Nekroz" Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.
A ritual card that allows you to ritual summon from your hand or grave. "Oh you destroyed my trishula? It's ok I'll just use Nekroz cycle and get him back." oh yeah and the other effect allows you to not only use one of the nekroz monsters effects, but you get another spell card. Nekroz Exomirror - Effect:
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any "Nekroz" Ritual Monster. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field and/or banish "Nekroz" monsters from your Graveyard, whose total Levels equal the Level of that Ritual Monster. You can only use this effect of "Nekroz Exomirror" once per turn. If you control no monsters: You can banish both this card and 1 "Nekroz" monster from your Graveyard; add 1 "Nekroz" Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.
This ritual card says "Hey why use your hand? you got a graveyard for a reason right?" This card helps you keep hand advantage while being able to get a nekroz out on the field Nekroz Kaleidomirror - Effect:
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any number of "Nekroz" Ritual Monsters. You must also Tribute 1 monster from your hand or field, OR send 1 monster from your Extra Deck to the Graveyard, whose Level equals the total Levels of that Ritual Monster(s). You can only use this effect of "Nekroz Kaleidomirror" once per turn. If you control no monsters: You can banish both this card and 1 "Nekroz" monster from your Graveyard; add 1 "Nekroz" Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.
Now this card says "why use your hand? got cards in your extra deck right?" This card is the igniter for a really funny combo that I'll talk about later on. but this card uses the extra deck for ritual fodder which is pretty nice |
Thats all the cards in the archetype at the moment but now I'll go over a few cards that work well in this deck also.
Manju of the ten thousand hands- a ritual monster/spell searcher
Senju of the ten thousand hands- ritual monster searcher
Preparation of Rights-Ritual monster searcher and ritual spell recycler Even though this card was limited it's still a really good card to run, plus you thin the deck so much you shouldnt be surprised to draw this rather early on.
Denkou Sekka- A backrow lockout, this deck is very otk heavy
ROTA- searches out Clausolas and Schritt
Herald of arc light- Level 4 synchro fodder for kaleidomirror and searches out and ritual monster or ritual spell
Djinn ritual monsters- banish them for ritual tributes and the ritual monsters gain good effects as well The djinn lock is probably one of the most annoying thing in yugioh today, and this deck can abuse it to no end
Lavaval chain- this xyz can be brought out easy with unicore and manju/senju. This card can send your djinn to the grave to avoid a dead draw, or can add any monster that you would need to the top of your deck |
O.K. now I would like to talk about a fun combo using these 7 cards:
Shooting quesar Dragon, shooting star dragon, Nekroz of brionac(x2), Inzektor Exa-beetle, gaia Dragon, the thunder Charger, and nekroz kaleidomirror. What you want to do is of course activate kaleidomirror, select shooting quasar dragon. This will send it will let you ritual summon the 2 brionacs in your hand. Overlay the brionacs into exa beetle and attach quesar dragon. Use beetles eff to detach quasar and get rid of a face up card on your opponents field. Quasars eff will activate and you will special summon out shooting star dragon. Finally use beetle to overlay into gaia dragon. If everything went ok you will have a 3300 beater that protects you from cards that destroy like dark hole and raigeki, and a 2600 beater that inflicts piercing damage.
|
Like every deck there are pros and cons.
Pros:
- Heavy otk potential
- Hurts the opponents extra deck
- Trishula...nuff said
- Can protect itself well
- Has a lot of search engines
- Doesn't sacrifice much to ritual summon
- Abuses the djinn lock
- can comeback if behind
|
Cons:
- Struggles without being able to ritual summon
- Wrecked if locked down
- Can't last in a grind out game
- So many choices to make it's easy to mess up
- diamond dust hurts if you overextend
|
I find this deck quite easy to play once you understand the basics of the play style. It's quick you set up advantage very early and you dont look back. Hope you enjoyed reading this guide. I'll hopefully update it every chance i get with new pros and cons I find, if you have some let me know. I'll update it with any new card are released. Thank you for reading. |
