Yea, here goes again. Just wish people could understand I can only do so much. Have you ever been down on your luck? Tired of being who you are? Life is crazy guys, one day at a time. But when you look around to all that could be, and realize you have so little time to make up all you've lost what do you do? I wish I'd done more sooner. Because to be honest, I gave up way to much. I don't have anything to contribute, and it sucks. I depend on scraps. Like, I gotta wait until someone, for whatever reason takes enough pity on me to give me just enough to survive on. And I'm not complaining about that! Just... I wish I could pay them back, but I can't.


 I am who I am, and that just can't change,
Some call it selfish, I call it a cage,
If I could bend the rules, God knows I would,
Can't be who I'm not, just the person I should,
Wish it was easy, but that ain't the case,
Given my all, and just started the chase,
I look around, and see my friends succeed,
Feel down on myself, cuz all I do is bleed,
Thought I had it all, man that was a joke,
Seems the life I had went up in smoke,
But I hold on, though I don't know why,
Everyone looks at me, but can't see that I try,
When your in this rut, it's hard to get out,
Can't do to much, but I know I can't pout,
I've got no job, no ride, and all my friends are gone,
Been stuck in this house, for way too long,
I'm grateful for a home, but sick of the same scene,
Trying to change it, yea... that's my dream.

Great work. Some would read this piece and feel depressed others would feel it's pathetic and feel superior. For me it described the emotions undertaken (in our social structure) during the transition from a 'boy' to a 'man'. I mean from living the life with no stress,no expectation, not being pushed to 'success' and just genuinely living. To the realization that life is not what you thought it would be. Things changed; prescribed laws you never knew about appears, responsibilities are stressing you out. All those around you are already couped and set. But you are still alive, hesitantly pushing on with your day on the lookout for a chance to go back to living your life and not just being alive.

Wow, thanks Loudfist! Honestly it's quite amazing when someone reads your work and takes from it the same emotion you put in. As, text can only go so far. Often times the case is such that the reader is left to interpret these things on their on, like you said about some people taking different points away from it.

However, I tend to agree with how you described it. I was upset when I wrote this, but it's based on things that have been building in my life for some time now. Those struggles are also as you said the struggles I believe all young men face. Im 22 years old, not some 12 year old sitting behind a screen. I've done ALOT in my years, (especially 17-20, haha) but the last couple years it just sort of all fell back on me. Life IS hard, anyone who does not admit that is either lying, or they are in for a RUDE awakening sometime soon.

Anyway thank you, because the truth of the matter is exactly that. This piece is not about wallowing in depression, its about battling it, and overcoming it. Thanks for your input, I appreciate it very much!
