| So I have been going through a lot of archtypes lately (like Fire Fist and Fire Kings), and I've been tryin to play with all archtypes even made, like Blackwings and Madolches, and I came to Dragunity. When I look at them, I don't get it and when I play them, I still don't get it. I can get no plays off when I use them, and I try to fit all the Dragunity monsters in the deck. (as with all archtypes, I try to fit their cards into the deck, not the best idea but works sometimes) Please, someone help me with this, like making a new thread and calling it "Dragunity Guide" or something, idk. |

| first of all, no deck is successful by fitting all of the cards of the archetype into the deck. Konami intentionally makes bad cards, for promotional reasons, and you need to know the difference. The key is to dig through the mess and find the gems that make a deck's engine. As for Dragunity, they're really not all that difficult to understand.
1. Use Dragon Ravine to set up the following situation; Dragunity Phalanx/Aklys (both, not just one) in your grave 2. Search out Dragunity Dux to make lv 8 synchros, or search out Dragunity Legionnaire to control the field, using it's effect in tandem with Aklys, to destroy 2 cards for the price of 1 3. Repeat as necessary, gaining as many bonuses as possible, and chipping away the opponent's life points.
There are two strong variants of the deck right now 1. Mystletainn Loop 2. Dragunity Assault Mode
basic deck skeletons for you:
Mystletainn Loop: Main Deck- 3 Tempest 2 Lightning 3 Dux 2 Legionnaire 1 Aklys 3 Phalanx 3 Mystletainn 1 Leyvaten (For Trident Dragion OTK) 1 Blackwing-Zephyros the Elite
3 Dragon's Ravine 1 Foolish Burial 2 Cards of Consonance 1 Dragon's Mausoleum 1 Monster Reborn 1 Heavy Storm 1 Dark Hole 2 MST
1 solemn warning 1 solemn judgment 2 torrential tribute 2 compulsory evacuation device 2 bottomless trap hole 1 transmigration prophecy
Extra Deck- 3 Dragunity-Vajrayana 2 Vulcan 1 Stardust Dragon 1 Crimson Blader 1 Scrap Dragon 1 Trident Dragion 2 Constellar Ptolemys Messier 7 2 King Atum 2 Gaia Dragon
The point here is to use Atum's effect to continue recycling and re-summoning Dragunity Arma Mystletainn, to gain multiple xyz in one turn, as well as a synchro for lv 8. Pick your lv 8 according to the current need. Legionnaire is there mainly to abuse his synergy with Aklys, and Zephyros can be used to return him to the hand to use again, while going for a synchro, or just attacking directly that turn.

3 Dux 2 Legionnaire 1 Aklys 3 Phalanx 3 Mystletainn 1 Blackwing-Zephyros the Elite 3 Assault Beast 2 Stardust Dragon Assault Mode
2 Fire Formation-Tenki 3 dragon Ravine 1 Foolish Burial 1 Heavy Storm 1 Monster Reborn 1 Dark Hole 2 Mystical Space Typhoon 2 Cards of Consonance
2 Assault Mode Activate 2 Bottomless Trap Hole 1 solemn judgment 1 solemn warning 1 starlight road 1 transmigration prophecy 1 call of the haunted
Extra Deck-
3 Vajrayana 1 Catastor 1 Magical Android 1 Thought Ruler Archfiend 3 Stardust Dragon 1 Crimson Blader 2 Atum 1 Constellar Ptolemys Messier 7 1 Trident Dragion 1 Scrap Dragon
In this deck, your goal is to get out Stardust Dragon Assault Mode as quickly as possible, then business as usual with Dragunities.

| There's a different variant that abuses Tempest along with cards like Gold Sarc, Gae Dearg, and Baby Roc that can do quick Synchros and Xyz, as well as more easily searching Mystletainn. |

| A major weakness of Dragunity is that they can not function to their maximum potential without the usage of a field spell card. This creates many possible issues, but you can work around your weaknesses better if you understand them. That's part of what separates the less experienced from the pros. Always contemplate what your opponent may have in their hand or on their field, as to avoid overextending. Risks are good, but many bluffs are easy to spot. And Dragunity is usually a deck someone will try to fake you out whilst dueling against.
I don't mean to disagree with anyone else, but I personally find that Assault Mode decks work better in the standalone sense, rather than in Dragunity decks. A combination of Dragunity and Gusto has proven for me, at least in the past few months, to be a very potent answer to what's going on with missing the timing, and things that don't. In the very least, discarding Grif through the field spell is a very powerful way to make your synchro plays explode all the more so.
Since this is first and foremost a teaching experience, I won't provide you a skeleton, but I would review anything you personally come up with, and give pointers and possible overlooked tech choices. |
