| Subject: How to get your duels done Wed Jan 15, 2014 6:21 am#1 | |
| Introduction Hello folks. Seeing how our tours are taking a lot longer than they should i, arrogantly, assumed a lot of our members didn't know how to arrange their duels in a timely manner. And this is an initiative in hope of resolving this problem.
Signing up
First things first, signing up. Before you sign up for any tournament you need to be able to dedicate enough time for the tournament, a reasonable amount is a daily 2-4 hours for 1 or 2 weeks, depending on the tournament. This is very important because inattentive contenders slow the tour down and take-up a spot that could have been filled with a more willing individual. When you sign up make sure to include your time zone and a sufficient way to reach you -No the chatbox isn't one- a sufficient way is somewhere that you check often and has an effective notification of new messages, a good example is your email address which is connected with your phone that in turn gives off a sound when an email is received, obligatory: technology is awesome. Contacting your opponent
After signing up and your opponent is decided, you MUST get in touch with your opponent, via the method he supplied when signing up. Being on the chatbox waiting for your opponent to miraculously appear the same time you're on is very very ineffective, and frankly, dopey. When sending a message to your opponent you're setting an appointment, so you need to be accurate and considerate of not only time zone variance, but for different life styles and habits.
For example, your time zone is Gmt+8 and your opponent is in the Gmt-4 time zone. You're 12 hours ahead of your opponent! to reach a suitable time you need to take into account their lifestyle (when do they sleep/wake up). In this example your conversation can go something like: "Hi i am x your opponent at the y tournament, there seem to be a big difference with our times but hopefully it will work out. I'll be on, Wednesday from 7-10 am and again at 5-6 pm, that translates to: Tuesday 7-10 pm and Wednesday 5-6 am your time. If both occasions are not good for you, please specify your preference. ".. and so on back and fourth. If you and your opp can't agree on a time or your opponent doesn't respond after 24 hours you should notify the tournament's host. Links lastly i'd like to share few links that are helpful concerning time zones.. http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/gmt-converter/time-zones/index.htm < Time Zone for every country in the World.

And that's about it. Sorry if i over/under elaborated or completely missed any points, feel free to submit any questions or remarks in the comments. |
