Judgment of the Light brought us more than half a dozen new, totally splashable Synchro monsters you can play in almost any Deck. You’ll find a few more in Shadow Specters, including today’s spotlighted card Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius!

Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius, so it’s really easy to use. If you’ve played Synchros yourself lately, you might be familiar with classic Level 6’s like the 2600 ATK
Gaia Knight, the Force of Earth and the 2500 ATK
Iron Chain Dragon. Blue Sirius only has 2400 ATK, but it’s got a cool effect if it gets destroyed: an enemy monster loses 2400 Attack Points so you can crush it next turn.
Blue Sirius is good on its own, but there’s even more here than meets the eye. Because Blue Sirius is a DARK Beast-Warrior, it’s got unique combo potential with one of the fiercest traps of all time –
Eradicator Epidemic Virus. The Virus lets you destroy all of your opponents Spells or Traps, but you need to Tribute a DARK monster with 2500 ATK or more to get there. Luckily, a popular Continuous Spell makes that happen.
Fire Formation – Tenki searches you a Beast-Warrior from your Deck, then buffs all of your on-field Beast-Warriors by 100 ATK. That means you can use Tenki to search a monster and set up your plays, then Summon
Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius at a boosted 2500 ATK. Make your attacks with it, and when your opponent tries to destroy it, turn the tables by Tributing Blue Sirius for
Eradicator Epidemic Virus.
This is a huge combo for Fire Fist Duelists, because they can use Tenki to search
Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Spirit. The Spirit’s a Level 3 Tuner with an effect that revives a Level 3 FIRE monster with 200 or less DEF from your Graveyard, so it’s an instant Blue Sirius.
This combo’s especially good if you use Spirit to revive Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Rooster from your Graveyard. Rooster’s effect adds a “Fire Fist” monster from your Deck to your hand when it’s Special Summoned by another Fire Fist like Spirit. That means that if you use Fire Formation – Tenki to search Spirit, then Summon it to bring back Rooster, you’ll wind up with a field of Tenki and a 2500 ATK Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius, plus a free Fire Fist in your hand. With Eradicator Epidemic Virus in the mix you’ll smash your opponent’s defenses by calling Trap Cards, or devastate their draw power and their support cards by calling Spells.
But that combo’s not just for Fire Fists. If you play
Fire Formation – Tenki, you can run Blue Sirius in your Extra Deck and then Side Deck in
Eradicator Epidemic Virus when you need it. Constellars run Tenki to search
Constellar Kaus, and you can pair Kaus with
Effect Veiler to Summon Blue Sirius. X-Sabers use Tenki to get to
XX-Saber Boggart Knight, and an X-Saber Duelist can make Blue Sirius by Tuning Boggart Knight to
X-Saber Palomuro. It’s easy to make with
XX-Saber Darksoul and
XX-Saber Fulhelmknight, too. Even creative strategies like Assault Mode Dragunity and T.G. Madolche can play Blue Sirius, giving them more ways to play Eradicator.
Number 85: Crazy Box from
Number Hunters made any Rank 4 Xyz Summon into
Eradicator Epidemic Virus Tribute, but
Celestial Wolf Lord, Blue Sirius lets you make the same play any time you can Synchro Summon a Level 6 – and it’s a monster you can attack with to boot! Blue Sirius can go in any Deck with Tuners, so if you’re looking for a Level 6 Synchro Monster with a lot of upside, give this one a try!
