Effect: Target 1 face-up monster on the field; until the End phase, it gains 400 atk, but its effects are negated.
Now this card is not necissarly a staple but I wanted to talk about it because some decks run cards like effect veiler, breakthrogh skill, and Fiendish chain to negate monster effects. Not only does Forbidden chalice negate stuff but it can also be used a way to run over monsters in the damage step. This dual purpose makes this card very good for negating effects.
I want to emphasis that
The deck you play will help decide what monster effect negation cards you run. Stuff like infernoid and lightsworn like breakthrough skill cause it can be used in the graveyard. Its also a good out to Cyber Dragon Infinity, El shaddoll winda, dark law etc. Fiendish is for the decks that need a little extra protection because that stopping an attack is nice, but it can clog up your board and can be negated by mst =/. Then Effect veiler, It does well and should be used if its a chaos deck or if you need monsters in the grave or a level 1 tuner. Now if your deck has plenty of protection, doesn't exactly need breakthrough skill, doesn't need a level 1 tuner, is not a chaos deck, and/or royal decree and trap stun then forbidden chalice is the right card to choose.
Pros:
1 - Negates Monster Effects
2 - Can be used during the damage step for an offensive/definsive card in that regard.
3 - Negates monsters effects even if Royal decree or trap stun are in play.
Cons:
1 - May lead to a circumstance where the extra 400 attack may backfire if used on an opponent's monster.
What are your guys' thoughts on these monster negation cards?
