Hold up, don't take another step,
Take this time, to get your life all set.

It's a dangerous road, and I walk it alone,
There's no reason, for me to share this cold.

I've learned my lesson, swallowed my pride,
And I don't need you by my side.

I'm not a romantic, not anymore,
I've continued on through past this closed door.

But hear me out, all my people,
We are not created equal.

Some come from money, other from shame,
But we've all got the right to chase the same fame.

Look at me, and all my mistakes,
Learn from my life, and when to hit the brakes.

Behind me lies a great big hole,
And if you follow it'll swallow your soul.

So take my advice, and freeze just breathe,
I've got me and that's all I need.

Your just the same, at least in that way,
Learning who you are, and how to be brave.

A simple message, and the tick of a clock,
Time flies by, but sometimes...

You just gotta stop.
