When an opponent's monster declares a direct attack: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, then destroy that attacking monster if this card's DEF is higher than that monster's ATK. An Xyz Monster that was Summoned using this card as Xyz Material gains this effect. • Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle.
Why does it matter?
● The last effect can really break an Xyz monster. ● Running a card like this can be very beneficial in a Photon, Hieratic, Gagaga, or even a Gimmick Puppet deck. Though it is not a machine. ● It works really well in a Chaos deck. ● Rather than being played in ATK mode, the DEF of this card causes the opponent to not only take damage they inflict to themselves, but also lose their monster, that is if it is lower than 2400 ATK. ● Summoning multiple copies can set you up for impressive plays early on.
This is one of the very few cards that is better off than the anime version. That doesn't mean it's necessarily a wonderful card, but it can really stall well in the right deck. A fun suggestion is to summon Felgrand the Divine Dragon Knight with the effect. This creates an essentially invincible card, at least against two obstacles. Your opponent would have to expend 3 resources to get rid of it, or at very least two in one turn. Another hilarious option is to give your Number 15: Gimmick Puppet Giant Grinder a much needed protection. As impressive as many of the combos are, my secret tech choice would have to be Number 87: Queen of the Night. She is in all likelihood one of my favorite Xyz, actually. Of course, even Hieratics, which don't play much defense at all, could benefit from this card, since their inconsistencies come from when their OTK fails. Being used as the final material for Neo Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon might seem a little odd a choice, but it does have a chance to stop Honest from ruining your day. Gagaga is a final, though lesser played option, due to their ease of level manipulation.
Final Verdict: 6/10

Great card, level 8 easy summon with a great effects. It is also possible to use birdman to either return swordsman for another tough time and go on the offensive now that you got rid of the opponent monster. Or you can go for the awesome stareater
I'll give this one a 7/10

I am not i follow here, how would the opponent inflict damage to themselves? If swordsman def is higher than their monster's attack it would destroy the monster. if not they can chose to not attack.

Wouldn't felgrand also negate it's newly founded effect from swordsman as well ?

That one is my bad. I was actually mistaken with what it said. Consider this one incomplete.
